Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson today thanked the FBI after it was revealed every single male agent in the Bureau selflessly volunteered to find out how nude photos of the star ended up on the internet.
No sooner had the A-list celebrity reported her concerns to the FBI, than more than 2,500 special agents cancelled leave to help investigate the claims.
A further 5,200 turned into work early to help in the hunt, while 250 stake outs were aborted and 40 undercover wire taps put on hold as agents abandoned their posts to volunteer for the case.
Laura Eimiller, of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, said the response highlighted the selfless dedication and professionalism of the Government’s investigation department.
“The majority made the judgement call themselves,” said Eimiller. “Certainly I didn’t call them in. They just wanted to help. In fact, they insisted.”
It is understood more than 2,700 agents have been painstakingly poring over the two images of Johansson, one showing her topless on a bed and another showing her wearing a towel while revealing her bottom.
Ms Johansson said: “The response has been overwhelming, with hundreds of FBI officers on the phone asking if they can interview me and provide copies of any other nude photos I may have of myself that need protecting.”
Asked if the same agents would be investigating hacked photos of Justin Timberlake appearing online, FBI chief Mitch Brubaker said: “I dunno. Does he have breasts?”
