Westlife add 453 new dates to farewell tour

Westlife: The band that won't die

Westlife’s farewell tour is likely to last the next 20 years, the devastated boyband revealed today.

“Breaking up the band has been a heart-breaking decision but we feel it’s important to make sure all our fans get to say goodbye,” said singer Nicky Byrne, 33. “Which is why we’ve added a few hundred extra gigs.”

The band’s management say that to accommodate the new gigs, the farewell tour will be broken up into a series of smaller tours taking place over the next “20 or so years.”

To mark the band’s demise, Westlife’s record label has agreed to support the boys with the release of a number of greatest hits albums over the next decade as well as at least a dozen “one-off” singles and albums.

“The end of Westlife has come as a shock, but this devastating news has been softened somewhat by the new gig dates, albums, singles, charity concerts and TV specials set to take place over the next two decades,” said fan Erin Gordon, 27.

“By 2021, I’m hoping to be able to remember the title of at least two of their 14 number one singles. Flying Without Wings was one of them wasn’t it?”
