David and Ed Miliband have swapped bodies a matter of hours after the younger Miliband defeated his brother to become the new leader of the Labour party, writes Hard Jackson.

Following the news that Ed had narrowly polled more votes in the election, David is believed to have taken a walk around Manchester to ruminate on his political future, ending up in a derelict fairground on the outskirts of the city.

Details are scarce, but the elder Miliband is believed to have stumbled across a wish-granting machine called Zoltar Speaks. Miliband apparently fed ten pence into the mouth of Zoltar, which prompted the former Foreign Secretary to make a wish.

Although experts are at a loss as to how the body swap took place, it is understood that David woke up in the bed of Ed this morning, next to Justine Tornton; partner to Ed Miliband.

Meanwhile Ed awoke in David’s striped pyjamas, with Louise Shackleton; David Miliband’s partner. With both women unaware of the body swap, both brothers had to endure the partner of the sibling attacking their own character, before sexual encounters that were said to be ‘difficult and awkward’.

Both brothers are understood to have spent several minutes staring at themselves in the mirror in disbelief, before taking part in a series of madcap slapstick incidents relating to confusion over their identity.

The Miliband siblings then had to undertake interviews in which they spoke as their own brother.

Returning to the site of the fairground today, neither brother could find any trace of the Zoltar machine; potentially dooming them to spend the rest of their lives in the other’s body.

Experts are also looking into a number of alleged body swaps involving senior Liberal Democrats with Tory MPs.
