Prince Philip won warm applause from an audience of well-wishers after racially abusing a street cleaner on his way to church this morning, writes Hard Jackson.
The Prince, 90, underwent heart surgery over the Christmas period after complaining of chest pains on Christmas Eve.
But he scotched any doubts over his robust health when he was heard to abuse council worker Pedro Salles, as he accompanied his family to Saint Coburg Church on New Year’s Day.
Onlookers and well-wishers clapped and cheered as the Prince clipped Salles around the ears after the hapless road-sweeper got in his way.
Salles had been brushing a pavement near the church when he stumbled into the Prince, who was seen to react with a back-handed blow to Salles’ head and a loud racial epithet.
To loud cheers and applause the Prince then essayed a small wave to well-wishers, before stepping into the church.
“It was amazing,” said Royal fan Edward Burst.
“The Prince clocked the guy and then shouted ‘You stupid dago!’ right in his face before marching into the church.
“It was a really stiff whack and the road-sweeper looked very dazed.
“What’s more, you could really see the distaste on his face; he looked like he really meant business,” said Burst, waving a small Union Flag and blowing on a little paper trumpet.
“The Prince clearly has a lot of life in him yet and it was great to see the Prince Philip we all know and love: a man with a healthy dislike of lower-class people, especially if they look foreign.”
