Fans who bought tickets for former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s sell out O2 arena dates will get their money back.
Organisers AEG Live advise people who planned to attend the This Is It shows, which were due to begin in the new year, to hold on to their original tickets as proof of purchase.
Fears that money would not be returned was met with an outpouring of emotion in the Communist state, with millions of mourners taking to the streets to openly weep over their loss.
The news ends two weeks of speculation linking the North Korean leader’s son Kim Jong-un with the starring role in the shows.
There had been fears the concerts would not go ahead amid growing concerns about the leader’s health ahead of the 50-date run.
Kim Jong-il appeared lethargic in rehearsals, according to dancers working on the show.
In November, footage of the eccentric Communist dictator dancing gingerly and looking jaded appeared on video sharing website Youtube.
The clips were dismissed by AEG as misleading. The organisers claimed the videos showed an artist running through his routine at a leisurely pace.
Kim Jong-il died in December, aged 69.
A DVD featuring unseen footage of Kim Jong-il preparing for the shows will go on sale on February 2. All money raised will go to the North Korean People’s Nuclear Fund.
