Turkish rescue personnel face a desperate struggle to be featured in stills or moving images of babies being rescued from rubble in earthquake-stricken Ercis.
As the number of people rescued from collapsed buildings dwindles, emergency services face a desperate struggle to be snapped while in the process of assisting distressed survivors.
“We’re down to maybe just one or two people still to be rescued,” confided Özgür Turcan. “That means just one or two more opportunities to make the front page of Time magazine supporting the head of an injured old woman.
Turcan added that he was fairly sure his hand appeared in a couple of images, doing vital work in supporting the foot of a small child pulled from a collapsed house.
Up to 77 different rescue workers are thought to be featured in photos, which will be emailed to 849 news outlets worldwide this evening.
