Despite denials from the social media giant, Facebook fatigue is real – and it’s caused by over-enthusiastically viewing pictures of your partner’s sexy friends.

Rigorous examination of images of MILFs – and in the age of the silver surfer – GILFs is also believed to be the cause of the repetitive strain injury.

Doctors say the symptoms of Facebook fatigue, sore wrists and an over-developed right bicep, are most commonly found in males aged 16-25.

Physicians checked the medical history of patients complaining of the ailment to look for a pattern, but drew a blank.

But an examination of sufferers’ internet history was more fruitful – with Facebook photo albums and other image-heavy specialist websites featuring prominently in every case.

“There are potential long-term risks to sufferers of Facebook fatigue,” warned Dr Steven Schimdt who is leading the Cambridge University team investigating the phenomenon.

“We’ve already seen some patients’ eyesight worsening and we fear they could eventually go blind.”

All Facebook users have the potential to develop versions of the condition, doctors have warned. A similar ailment affects drunk jilted women checking up on their ex, even though they promised they wouldn’t this time.
