Facebook to relaunch as quarterly magazine

Social media giant Facebook will stay ahead of the curve by ditching its digital offering to relaunch as a printed magazine.

The plan is to convert the majority of the service’s estimated 700m users into paid subscribers to a 180-page glossy product.

Facebook Quarterly will be distributed four times a year and will feature in-depth features and showcase investigative journalism.

A column penned by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is also in the pipeline, though it is understood he has stolen most of his ideas from someone else.

“Digital is yesterday’s news,” an insider at the multi-billion dollar company told The News Grind.

“If we could sell a magazine to the 250million Facebook users who are not spambots and who aren’t using a duplicate account to perve at teenagers, we could finally make some real money out of this thing.”

With a cover price of $5 – around £3.20 – Facebook Quarterly would bring in $5bn in copy sales annually. And that figure could easily be doubled with advertising revenue.

The move confirms rumours that Facebook would become a paid-for service.

“With annual revenues stalling at around $1bn something had to be done,” our source said, adding: “LOL.”
