Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is to take his break from Premier League controversy and enjoy a traditional festive gathering in Uruguay happily abusing his neighbours.

After receiving a one-match ban and £20,000 fine from the FA today after raising a middle finger to Fulham fans, on top of his eight-game suspension for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, means the 24-year-old can return home to Uruguay and abuse black people with impunity.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish told reporters today that instead of playing against Newcastle United this Friday, the 24-year-old has been given leave to return home and “let off some steam.”

“It’ll do him good to get back to Uruguay where public shows of abuse and the hounding of racial minorities is the national pastime,” he said.

“As Luis has said, some of his own family are black … so he won’t have to travel far to let rip.”

Liverpool players have been wearing white T-shirts with a picture of Suarez printed on the front as a show of support for the under-fire Uruguayan.

They are set to continue their show of solidarity against the Magpies on Friday by donning white hooded masks and burning a giant wooden cross before kick-off.
