Blatter insists his Movember Hitler moustache is simply misunderstood

Hairy moment: Sepp Blatter's controversial Movember moustache

Fifa president Sepp Blatter claims his new Adolf Hitler-style moustache is not racially offensive but has been misunderstood by the world’s press.

The under-fire soccer supremo sported the controversial small black moustache when addressing reporters to defend his comments on racism in football.

Blatter was due to explain his view that there is no racism in football and that race issues in the sport could be settled with a simple handshake after the game, but ended up fielding questions about his Hitler top lip growth.

“Once again my sentiments have been taken out of context,” said Blatter. “Like many people I am growing a moustache to support the Movember men’s health campaign. The style of moustache is one I just happen to like. I fail to see how it can offend.”

On being shown photographs of Adolf Hitler, Blatter was forced to concede that its likeness to the leader of the Third Reich, a repellent racist and homophobe, was “regrettable.”

Asked if it was an issue which could be dealt with by a handshake, Blatter admitted that “it is an issue that needs something much stronger than that.

He said: “In this case a handshake would not be enough. How’s about I buy you a pint? No! What about Rock, Paper, Scissors? Back rub anyone?”
